Purpose
To explore various pediatric topics of current interest to nurses and the entire healthcare team. Areas of interest highlight respiratory illness, chronic issues in schools and community agencies, mental health and risks for maltreatment, immunizations, diet, sleep, and dental practices. Outcomes of nursing care are discussed.

Target Audience
Nurses and other health care providers

Objectives
After completing this course, the learner will be able to:

  1. Identify treatment options for respiratory illness in children
  2. Discuss interventions for childhood obesity and diabetes
  3. Describe a family-centered approach to well child care

Computer Requirements:
Lectures are available as streaming video and require audio capability and a reliable internet connection.

Course lectures were recorded during the Terrific Tuesdays program on April 12, 2011; broadcast live from UW-Madison School of Nursing and Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse with simultaneous telecast to locations throughout Wisconsin, Iowa, and Minnesota.
