Purpose: This module will provide an overview of the role of the preceptor, the characteristics of effective preceptors and strategies for starting a learning partnership with students.

Objectives:
  1. Describe the role of the preceptor in clinical nursing education
  2. State the positive characteristics of a preceptor
  3. Describe three strategies for beginning a learning partnership with a student
